The victims included David James Fisk, aged 57, his partner Lucita Barquin Cortez, age 55, who held dual citizenship of the Philippines and Australia, and a younger relative of Ms. Cortez.
Police Chief Charles Daven Capagcuan disclosed that the motive behind the grim events remained unknown, with no indication that any valuable items had been taken from the victims' possessions.
A video recorded by hotel staff showed an individual concealed in a mask and hooded attire, carrying a sling bag, exiting the room where the bodies were later found shortly before their discovery.
Originally traveling to Bali following their return from Sydney, Fisk and his partner made arrangements to visit Ms. Cortez's children in the Philippines after their vacation. Their short stay at Tagaytay was intended as a brief interlude on their journey back home to Australia.
Fisk had worked as an executive for Jiwa Financials, an Australian-based software enterprise, and held experience from positions with Debtrak, specializing in debt collection systems.
