Andy Murray has likely concluded his singles career after announcing plans for participating only in doubles during the Paris Olympics. The 37-year-old, who is competing in his fifth Olympic Games, has not yet fully recuperated from surgery performed a week prior to Wimbledon. Instead of aiming for individual glory, Murray and Dan Evans are teaming up to pursue another Olympic medal through doubles competition.
When questioned about his physical condition for singles play, Murray responded that he would need more time to decide but expressed doubt in his readiness: “I think we've committed to focusing on doubles.” During their preparations, Evans has maintained a presence in the singles rankings while Murray concentrated on doubles practice sessions.
Murray also acknowledged skipping his potential finals in men’s singles at Wimbledon due to an injury-related decision but hinted that this would have been his last solo match before retiring against Jordan Thompson at Queen's Club. His heartfelt double finale with brother Jamie at the same event was a memorable moment, and Murray is looking forward to possibly concluding his career on a similar note in Paris.
