Boxer Ryan Garcia vows to seek therapy after admitting use of racially charged language

Ryan Garcia issued an apology on social media after using racial slurs and making disparaging remarks about Muslims during a livestreamed event earlier this week.

The 25-year-old, expelled by the World Boxing Council for his comments, admitted in another post that he is struggling with substance abuse and expressed regret over recent incidents.

However, subsequent posts questioning the sincerity of his apology surfaced, including remarks about racism among black men and use of offensive language. Additionally, Garcia criticized other boxers for not facing repercussions for making similar statements.

His troubles intensified when he was suspended by New York State Athletic Commission following a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs after defeating Devin Haney and an arrest over alleged property damage, during which his attorney mentioned the boxer's mother's health issues as part of his personal difficulties.

Oscar De La Hoya, Garcia's promoter, condemned the boxer's actions on social media, emphasizing that there is no tolerance for such behavior within their company and hoping Garcia would use this time off to address his challenges.
