A man died from injuries caused by gunfire during wedding celebrations in northern Turkey.
As the couple was leaving the ceremony, the groom, identified as 23-year-old Ali K., was struck by bullets, reportedly fired by a female relative of his wife, according to state news agency Anadolu.
Authorities detained the woman and later discovered two unregistered firearms in her garden. An investigation has been launched into the incident, which occurred in Şebinkarahisar, a town in Giresun province.
Firing guns in celebration is a traditional practice at weddings in Turkey’s northern Black Sea region.
In a separate incident last week, one person was killed and two others injured when shots were fired before a wedding in the northeastern province of Trabzon.
The wedding was called off, and two individuals, including a police officer, were detained in connection with the event, local outlets reported.
