Chris Paul Rejoins Los Angeles Clippers for 21st NBA Season
Twelve-time All-Star Chris Paul has agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers for his 21st season in the NBA, according to multiple reports.
The deal is valued at $3.6 million.
Paul, 40, previously played for the Clippers starting in the 2011-12 season, helping the team secure at least 51 wins in five of his six seasons with them. The franchise has only reached the 50-win mark seven times in its history. During his tenure with the Clippers, Paul was selected as an All-Star five times and remains the team’s all-time leader in assists (4,023) and steals per game (2.2).
Paul is now part of a Clippers roster that recently signed Bradley Beal to a two-year contract while also acquiring John Collins and Brook Lopez in free agency.
Throughout his career, Paul has been named to the All-NBA team 11 times, including four first-team selections, three of which came during his time with the Clippers.
Averaging 17.0 points and 9.2 assists over his Hall of Fame career, Paul has played for seven different teams, most recently with the San Antonio Spurs. His career total of 2,717 steals ranks second all-time behind John Stockton (3,265).
Paul was selected fourth overall by the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets in the 2005 NBA draft and earned Rookie of the Year honors for the 2005-06 season.
