Court Arranges Resumption of Harvey Weinstein's Sexual Assault Trial in November

Judge tentatively schedules Harvey Weinstein's upcoming retrial for November 12th, following a brief court appearance in Manhattan where proceedings were delayed by over an hour due to worldwide computer disruptions, as reported by Judge Curtis Farber.

During his appearance wearing an American flag pin, Weinstein was present when the judge addressed trial date specifics and concerns about evidence admissibility related to allegations against him. The prosecution had proposed a November retrial earlier in the week; however, they have not yet brought any new charges before a grand jury despite actively pursuing additional claims.
Writes deny all allegations of misconduct.
The defense expressed their preference for an expedited trial date during the hearing. Currently serving his sentence on Rikers Island, Weinstein's lawyers have voiced concerns over his medical care amidst issues related to diabetes, macular degeneration and fluid in vital organs.
John Esposito shared with reporters that while discussing Weinstein’s health during a private conversation with Judge Farber, the defense recommended relocating him back to Bellevue Hospital for better medical attention.
The motion comes after Weinstein spent several days at Bellevue following his arrival in New York City earlier this year when he was acquitted of charges from a 2020 conviction by the state's highest court due to perceived unfair trial practices.
Despite having been previously sentenced for rape in California, Weinstein's legal team recently filed an appeal stating that his New York trial lacked fairness. The former Hollywood executive was found guilty during a pivotal moment of the #MeToo movement and received convictions on charges from 2006 involving sexual misconduct allegations against two women.
