Crown Princess' Son Accused in Rape, Sexual Assault Case Involving Bodily Harm

The Oslo police released charges on Friday against Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of Norway’s crown princess, involving allegations such as rape, sexual assault, and bodily harm following an extensive investigation into what appears to be multiple victim cases over several months.

Høiby, a direct descendant in line with Norwegian royalty through Crown Princess Mette-Marit's bloodline, has been under police scrutiny since being arrested repeatedly starting from 2024 on allegations of rape and preliminary charges including bodily harm and property damage.

Oslo Police Attorney Andreas Kruszewski conveyed that Høiby cooperated during the investigation process which is now concluded, citing evidence collected through various means like text messages exchanges, accounts from witnesses as well as police searches in his case statements at a press briefing.

The accused faces several charges including one involving non-consensual intercourse and two without it (rape), four instances of sexual assault with no mention to the nature or methodology used for each act alongside accusations of inflicting bodily harm on more than ten individuals according to Kruszewski.

He emphasized, "The exact count goes beyond double digits," referring directly to this detail without divulging specifics about how many people have been involved in the alleged incidents within his scope as an attorney for Oslo Police.

Høiby's defense counsel Petar Sekulic conveyed, via press statement that Høiby is taking these serious accusations seriously without admitting any misconduct concerning sexual violence and physical harm in most of the cases brought against him—specifically relating to assaultive acts.

In accordance with standard procedures postulated by Norwegian law regarding criminal proceedings involving high-profile figures, Høiby maintains his freedom during this time before a potential trial where he would be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court as per common legal practice worldwide for such scenarios of alleged wrongdoing.

In recent times and up to now based on reports received by the press (Associated Press), Høiby, who was once cohabitating with Royal family members including Crown Princess Mette-Marit along with their offspring—Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus —has since relocated into a nearby separate residence.

As the situation continues to unfold within Norway's legal system, requests for clarification or further comments from The Royal Palace have been made in order to get official statements directly relating to these developments; however, at present they remain unanswered pending court proceedings and judgement outcomes as is standard protocol.
