Ukrainian commander Oleksandr Syrskyi reported heavy fighting around Kostiantynivka on Saturday as Russian forces intensified their efforts to capture the key city in eastern Ukraine's war against Russia. According to him, despite incurring numerous losses, the enemy has made no significant progress apart from continuous assaults aimed at breaking through defenses and advancing across three operational sectors.
In a separate development farther south-west of Donetsk region, Russian troops have managed to secure another village named Chervona Zirka as per Russia's defense ministry report earlier on the same day. This gradual advance by Moscow in eastern Ukraine has led to considerable destruction and damage to major cities and infrastructure alike.
On a different note, Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova arrived at North Korea with her 125-strong delegation of performers following agreements between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un which have led cultural cooperation to unprecedented levels according to Russia. Several concerts and lectures are expected in Pyongy, the capital city of North Korea during her visit that started on Saturday.
Despite months of silence post invasion by Moscow into Ukraine, Putin and Kim Jong-un have fostered closer relations between their nations through a treaty they signed including mutual defense pacts. This relationship has allowed for both countries to disclose the presence of North Korean troops in Russia's offensive against Ukrainian forces from Kursk region with recent times being no exception.
Moscow insists that any resolution towards war settlement depends on Ukraine recognizing Moscow’s control over four regions: Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson; although they don't fully hold them all as of now. Russia has managed to maintain command in about one-fifth of Ukrainian territory but complete dominion remains outstanding for the specified areas according to Moscow’s claims.
In a recent military incident, an unfortunate event led to loss of life and equipment on Sunday when Russian forces targeted Ukraine with large scale night missile and drone attack across western, southern, central parts causing significant property damage along with injuring at least six civilians as per local authorities' reports.
