F1 British Grand Prix: Live Coverage

The top three Formula One drivers in Sunday’s British Grand Prix will need to be careful with their trophies during the podium ceremony—or they might end up with a heap of LEGO pieces. "We aimed to make something unique to mark the 75th anniversary," said Julia Goldin, LEGO's chief product officer, in a statement.

The bricks are glued together and took seven designers 210 hours to assemble in Denmark. Goldin added that any damage wouldn’t be irreparable.

Last year, McLaren’s Lando Norris accidentally broke a special porcelain trophy in Hungary.

"If the trophy is dropped, it will shatter into countless colorful bricks," Goldin explained. "But it can be put back together. That’s the essence of LEGO—building incredible things and then starting again. The drivers should enjoy the moment, and whatever happens is fine."
