Gaga and Dion to Sing Together During Paris's 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony

One shared photos of herself at the Louvre, expressing: “Every time I return to Paris, I remember there’s still so much beauty and joy to experience in this city.” The second was spotted playing a piano on a floating island on the river Seine.

France's leader Emmanuel Macron has largely kept his thoughts private but it seems clear that an unfolding event with layers of confidentiality will culminate with an unprecedented performance by Céline Dion and Lady Gaga at the prestigious opening ceremony for the Olympic Games in Paris this Friday night.

Not just any collaboration though, these two renowned artists are expected to perform Édith Piaf's iconic song 'La Vie en Rose', showcasing a unique blend of French heritage that caught President Macron off guard during an interview on France 2.

"It appears she has arrived in Paris, and I would be delighted if she were part of this ceremony, along with all our fellow citizens," he said. "I won't divulge any details about the arrangements made by Thomas Jolly, the event director."

He added jokingly: "I am not accountable for her schedule."

This rumored appearance would be Dion's first live performance since she had to pause her tour and step back from the public eye due to a diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022. The neurological disorder causes muscle stiffness, sometimes leading to intense spasms. She last performed on stage in New York City in spring 2020.

Dion arrived in Paris from Las Vegas via private jet and is staying at a luxurious suite at the Royal Monceau hotel along Champs Elysees, where American artist Lady Gaga was also spotted earlier this week, greeting fans with affectionate gestures.

According to some media sources, Dion will be compensated generously for her performance and is expected to wear an elegant cape from designer Dior during the show. As for Gaga, despite stringent security measures around the Seine river, a fan managed to capture a photograph of someone resembling her near the riverbank on Monday evening.

Both artists are well-versed in French as Dion was born in Charlemagne, Quebec—a small town within Montreal—and Lady Gaga's mother is half Italian and half French. While Gaga has previously described her proficiency with the language as "merdique," she has also expressed that practicing it boosts her confidence over time.

Dion graced the opening ceremony of the 1996 Atlanta games, performing 'The Power of the Dream'—a song specifically composed for the occasion by a collaborating team. Speculations about Dion making an Olympic comeback had circulated since she featured on the cover of French Vogue in April.

Dion revealed her commitment to regaining physical strength and overall health during her conversation with Vogue, stating: "I want to be my best self. I eagerly look forward to visiting the Eiffel Tower once more."
