Netanyahu to hold security cabinet meeting to discuss Hamas ceasefire proposals
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will convene a meeting of his security cabinet later Thursday evening to assess Hamas' response to the proposed ceasefire deal in Gaza, according to an Israeli official. Prior to this meeting, Netanyahu is expected to discuss the matter with members of his negotiation team.
Hamas has put forward a proposal that includes a hostage release agreement and a ceasefire agreement for Gaza, which Israel's Mossad spy agency reportedly stated it is evaluating. Mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and the United States have been working to broker an end to the conflict in Gaza over several months without success so far.
In addition to this development, Andrea De Domenico, head of the UN's OCHA agency in Palestinian territories, revealed that about 90% of Gaza Strip's population has been displaced at least once since the conflict began. Around 1.9 million individuals are currently displaced due to ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hamas.
