Jasper Philipsen secures initial victory in the current year's Tour race.

Jasper Philipsen of Alpecin-Deceuninck Team triumphed in the 10th stage from Orleans to Saint-Amand-Montrond, seizing victory over Biniam Girmay at Intermarché Wanty. This marks Philipsen's seventh win across this year’s Tour de France.

Philipsen had faced challenges in the ongoing race but received guidance from his teammate Mathieu Van der Poel, who is a former world road champion. Despite earlier tactics by Mark Cavendish’s Astana Qazaqstan Team to position themselves along the right side of the road, Philipsen managed to outpace them and claimed the win.

Girmay's performance throughout the Tour has been notable; he secured two stage victories and gained a significant advantage in the points classification by excelling at intermediate sprints. This puts additional pressure on Philipsen to perform comparably, especially considering his impressive four-stage wins in 2023.

The overcast weather led to a calm peloton with minimal chances for high-speed racing until crosswinds briefly stirred the racecourse scene, which included picturesque sights of local landmarks. As they approached the mountainous stage scheduled for tomorrow, most competitors chose not to expend much energy on today's less demanding course that lacked major ascents. However, as the 10 km mark neared and speeds increased, Philipsen took advantage, ultimately crossing the finish line first in a dramatic sprint.

Slovenian rider Tadej Pogacar maintained his position atop the general classification with the iconic yellow jersey.
