Wednesday’s Tour de France stage offers another high-speed contest, with a 161km route that ranks as the third-shortest in the final week. The absence of major climbs means teams focused on sprints will likely push for a group finish in Valence. With Sunday’s Paris stage unlikely to end in a sprint due to repeated climbs of the Butte Montmartre, today provides the final opportunity for contenders in the points classification to secure a stage victory.
Expect a rapid pace as the riders move north from the Rhône Valley through the Drôme region toward Lyon. Two fourth-category climbs—Col du Pertuis at 66.3km and Col de Tartaiguille at 117km—will test the peloton. An intermediate sprint at Roche-Saint-Secret-Béconne (47.9km) ensures an intense start, followed by sustained speed until the finish.
The fastest estimated schedule predicts the peloton will reach Valence around 17:10 local time (16:10 UK), but an earlier finish would hardly be surprising given the expected tempo.
