US Open 2025 – Day 10 Preview
The excitement continues to build on day 10 of the US Open, as the competition reaches a crucial stage. Today’s lineup features two compelling matchups that promise intense action.
First, fourth-seeded Jessica Pegula faces Barbora Krejcikova. Pegula has long been a fixture in the upper ranks of the sport, with nine career titles to her name. However, she has struggled to advance beyond the quarterfinals in most Grand Slam tournaments, except for last year’s US Open, where she reached the final but was overpowered by Aryna Sabalenka.
In contrast, Krejcikova, once regarded primarily as a doubles specialist, has claimed major singles titles at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon. Her success comes from a versatile all-court game and the ability to elevate her performance in decisive moments—a trait Pegula has yet to consistently replicate. At 31, Pegula knows time is not on her side, but if she can deliver her best tennis today, she has a strong chance to prevail.
Next, Jiri Lehecka takes on Carlos Alcaraz. Their recent final at Queen’s was competitive early on, but Alcaraz ultimately dominated when it mattered most. The world No. 2 has a knack for adjusting his game to secure victories, especially in longer matches.
Lehecka, however, poses a challenge if his serve is sharp. At Queen’s, he pushed Alcaraz hard, narrowly losing the first set 7-5 before a tense second-set tiebreak. Though he will need an exceptional performance to truly test Alcaraz here, he has already defeated him on hard courts this season. At 23, Lehecka may feel ready to make a breakthrough—today will reveal if he can.
Play begins at 11:30 AM local time (4:30 PM BST).
