Poppy McIlroy Emulates Father's Skill on Putts at Augusta National

Rory McIlroy's four-year-old daughter, Poppy, made a challenging putt in the Family Day Tournament ahead of the 89th Masters.

The Northern Irish golfer described this moment with his child as "quite enjoyable". “It’s just such an entertaining afternoon,” McIlroy commented while enjoying time out on Augusta's greens, alongside Shane Lowry and Tommy Fleetwood along with their families who are very close.

“Having the kids participate is what matters most to us at this juncture," he said as they prepare for one of golf’s greatest challenges in a bid to achieve his first career Grand Slam victory, adding: “If you're not ready by now, there isn't much chance. Let's enjoy ourselves and get some rest before Thursday.”

Other family-friendly moments during the traditional prelude event included Jordan Spieth reminding young daughter Sophie to avoid eating grass; his wife Annie acted as caddy for him on this occasion, joining Max Homa who brought a children's putter along with Wyndham Clark. Notably though Jon Rahm’s son Kepa took an active shot at the ball from 30 feet during their gameplay while Nico Echavarria emerged victorious in today's tournament, defeating American JJ Spaun for second place after a close playoff match on hole two.

Keegan Bradley and Brooks Koepka both made remarkable holes-in-one throughout the day’s competition while Tom Hoge also showed his skills by hitting an ace early in their session, with former champion Gary Player delighting fans of all ages at Augusta's first Par Three hole through a lively dance performance.
