Friday night's premiere episode of ITV’s docuseries "Champions: Full Gallop" garnered a peak audience of 1.4 million viewers. While it cannot definitively link to the subsequent increase in attendance at Market Rasen's Summer Plate event, there seems to be no denying that this show will maintain its appeal for some time.
Yet, as summer approaches, one anticipates a different atmosphere from Ascot prior to their King George & Queen Elizabeth Stakes race - an essential highlight of the season. Hopes were high when Aidan O'Brien's City Of Troy, previous Derby and Eclipse winner, was set for this year's competition. However, disappointment struck as he failed to appear among the five-day declarations on Monday.

The King George was designed as a contest of different generations with its long history since the first event took place in 1951. It has seen numerous middle-distance greats like Ribot, Mill Reef, Nijinsky, Shergar, Nashwan, Dancing Brave and Galileo claim victory over the years.

This refers to mussels cooked with Dijon mustard and traditionally served on bread or baguette. The preparation of this dish involves cleaning the mussels and removing any beards before placing them in a pot with broth, shallots, garlic, parsley, thyme, salt, pepper, and Dijon mustard.
Another variation is "Moules Marinières", which means "mussels of sailors" - cooked in white wine along with vegetables like onions or leeks. Both versions are typically accompanied by crusty bread to soak up the flavorful broth and enjoy the tender, succulent mussels.
