Russian strikes overnight in the Zaporizhzhia region of southwestern Ukraine resulted in 16 deaths and at least 35 injuries at a detention center, according to local authorities.
Governor Ivan Fedorov reported on Telegram that the facility's buildings were destroyed, and nearby residences sustained damage.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, four people were killed and several others wounded in separate attacks, regional officials confirmed.
The number of casualties marks one of the deadliest assaults on Ukraine in recent months.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Moscow’s forces have frequently targeted Zaporizhzhia with drones, missiles, and bombs.
Fedorov stated that Russian forces carried out eight strikes on the area, deploying high-explosive aerial munitions.
This is a developing situation; further updates will follow.
