The American basketball team dominated Serbia in a recent exhibition match held in Abu Dhabi, extending their winning streak to three out of five on an intensive pre-Olympics tour. Led by Bam Adebayo and Anthony Davis, the US squad showcased exceptional performance against the formidable Serbian team led by Nikola Jokić.
Adebayo emerged as a key player for Team USA, scoring 17 points and gathering seven rebounds throughout the game while displaying agility both inside and outside the court. Meanwhile, Stephen Curry contributed significantly with an impressive display of shooting skills, adding six three-pointers to his tally and achieving a total of 24 points in the initial half.
The American team's prowess was further reflected by their success from beyond the arc; they managed 16 successful shots out of 36 attempted from three-point range. On the other hand, Serbia struggled to maintain its offensive momentum with Nikola Jokić scoring only eight points and managing just three attempts for a single score during the game.
One of Curry's highlight moments included skillfully securing a loose ball before executing an extraordinary left-wing release shot – marking his fifth successful attempt in the match, thus extending Team USA's lead to 90-63 early on. LeBron James capitalized on this momentum by powerfully slamming the ball off Adebayo's pass and adding a crucial three-pointer towards closing out the first half with an impressive score of 31 points, thereby widening the lead to 81-53 in the third quarter.
Throughout the contest, Jokić continued his aggressive involvement on offense, often passing and dribbling the ball during crucial moments but was unable to alter Team USA's defensive stance effectively. The exhibition match concluded with an impressive performance from Team USA, maintaining a significant lead of 59-45 at halftime due in part to their bench players outperforming the starters on defense and offense.
Adebayo further extended his scoring streak by successfully making another three-pointer during the third quarter, raising the lead to 81-53. Anthony Edwards played a significant role as well with nine consecutive points in the latter part of the second half, helping Team USA secure a substantial 47-40 advantage at the game's midpoint.
The American team will now prepare for their next two games before entering the Olympics on July 28th, where they aim to continue their winning streak against South Sudan in London on Saturday.
