Keegan Bradley is set to lead the US Ryder Cup team for the upcoming event scheduled for 2025. The announcement came from the PGA of America after lengthy discussions with former champion Tiger Woods regarding his potential role as captain.
The news was shared on social media following rumors that Bradley, who has participated in two prior Ryder Cup events, had been selected for this prestigious position to guide Team USA at the 2025 competition set to take place at Bethpage Black course in New York.
"It's a privilege I never imagined having," expressed Bradley upon accepting his new role. "I am profoundly grateful to the PGA of America Ryder Cup Committee for entrusting me with this significant responsibility as we journey towards Bethpage Black."
Bradley, who has experienced the thrill and excitement surrounding golf's premier team event, is looking forward to immersing himself in preparations leading up to 2025. Currently based in New York, Bradley is undergoing media training and anticipated holding a press conference next Tuesday for his introduction as the US captain of the Ryder Cup team.
Tiger Woods had initially been considered by the US committee but ultimately declined due to prior commitments related to event promotion. Despite this setback, Bradley's local connections—being native to New England and having played college golf at St. John’ Cook School in New York—made him a suitable choice for leading Team USA on home soil.
The 38-year-old professional golfer has an impressive career with five PGA Tour wins, including his first major victory at the 2011 PGA Championship and most recent win at the Travelers Championship in June of last year. Though he did not play for Team USA in their previous appearances in the Ryder Cup, Bradley's passion and dedication to the sport remain undiminished as he now prepares for his first opportunity to captain his home country on the world stage.
