A sightseeing boat overturned during an unexpected storm in Vietnam on Saturday afternoon, resulting in 34 fatalities and seven people still unaccounted for, according to official reports.
The vessel had 48 passengers and five crew members aboard while traveling through Ha Long Bay, a well-known scenic location.
Emergency responders rescued 12 individuals and retrieved 34 bodies near the accident site, as stated by *CuriosityNews*. Seven remain missing.
High winds caused the boat to flip, the report noted. Among the survivors was a 14-year-old boy, who was freed after being trapped inside the submerged hull for four hours.
Most of those on board were visitors, including approximately 20 children from the capital, Hanoi.
A tropical disturbance is also approaching the region. Weather authorities predict the system will reach northern Vietnam, including the Ha Long Bay area, in the coming days.
