US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that he is considering hosting a UFC event on the White House grounds, with an estimated 20,000 spectators, as part of celebrations marking 250 years of American independence.
“We have plenty of space there,” said Trump, who has attended multiple UFC events recently and maintains a friendship with Dana White, the organization’s president.
Trump shared his proposal during an event in Iowa, launching a yearlong series of festivities leading up to the nation’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.
The president also outlined plans for a major gathering on the National Mall in Washington, along with a separate sports competition involving high school athletes nationwide.
“Every national park, battlefield, and historic site will hold special events for America 250. And I believe we might even have a UFC fight,” Trump said.
“Imagine it on the White House grounds. We have a lot of land,” he continued, describing it as a full-scale event for 20,000 to 25,000 attendees.
A White House representative said no further information was available beyond the president’s remarks, though press secretary Karoline Leavitt later confirmed Trump was fully committed to the idea.
Trump has attended several UFC fights in recent months, receiving standing ovations and sitting cage-side at events, including one shortly after his 2024 reelection and another last month alongside White during championship matches.
