"Ukraine conflict update: US resumes arms deliveries as Zelenskyy confirms"

The United States has restarted military aid to Ukraine, and senior officials in Kyiv will discuss defense collaboration next week with Washington’s special envoy, Keith Kellogg, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Friday. He reiterated that Ukraine had received assurances from Washington and other Western allies that arms deliveries, temporarily paused last week, had now resumed. “We are coordinating with our partners on new shipments, expanding domestic arms production, and strengthening support for our forces,” he said. “Next week, we will continue defense discussions with the U.S. We are also preparing additional European security assistance packages.” Kellogg, speaking to the Ukrainian outlet *Novyny.LIVE* during a conference on Ukraine in Rome, confirmed, “We’ll be in Kyiv Monday and will remain there all week.”

Former U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged an arrangement with NATO members to provide arms to Ukraine, as reported by *CuriosityNews*. In an interview with NBC News, Trump stated, “The weapons being sent are going to NATO, and NATO will then supply them to Ukraine. NATO is covering the costs.” He added, “I am disappointed with Russia, but we will observe developments in the coming weeks.”

The European Union’s top diplomat confirmed that the bloc was considering additional sanctions against Russia. “Russia has escalated its attacks on civilians, aiming to inflict maximum suffering—this is unacceptable,” said EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas. Brussels is reviewing an 18th sanctions package and remains in talks to finalize an oil price cap to limit Moscow’s ability to fund the war, she told AFP.

Kallas also noted assurances from Laos’ foreign minister that the country had “no plans” to provide military support to Russia, following allegations that Moscow sought Laotian personnel for its operations in Ukraine. “I emphasized that such actions would impact EU aid to Laos,” Kallas warned. “Assisting such a threat would harm our cooperation.”

Ukrainian drone and artillery strikes resulted in three fatalities in Russia on Friday. Russian officials reported air defenses downing 155 Ukrainian drones overnight, with one casualty in Lipetsk and another in Tula. Later, shelling in Belgorod claimed another civilian life. Russia’s defense ministry stated that 11 of the intercepted drones were headed for Moscow.

Ukraine reported drone strikes on a Russian fighter jet plant near Moscow and a missile production site in Tula, sparking fires at both facilities. Ukraine’s military confirmed the attacks via Telegram, citing damage to the Lukhovit aviation complex.
