Musk activates internet service for Gaza hospital with UAE and Israel support

SpaceX's CEO Elon Musk announced that his Starlink satellite internet service has been implemented in a Gaza hospital, which had suffered significant destruction during the conflict due to many medical facilities being damaged. The initiative received backing from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Israel.

The UAE's foreign minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressed his gratitude towards Elon Musk for supporting the UAE-funded field hospital in Gaza, where numerous healthcare centers have been destroyed, and medication supplies are scarce. The announcement was made on Twitter by Musk himself.

The Starlink system's activation came more than five months after Israel granted approval for its utilization at the hospital in Rafah. Reports indicate that Israeli forces have recently destroyed homes in the vicinity of Rafah, located near the Egyptian border. These actions are part of an operation aimed at dismantling the last remaining Hamas forces in the area.

The high-speed internet provided by Starlink could facilitate vital medical consultations via real-time video communication, according to the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This development is especially significant given that the UAE and Israel have been part of a peace initiative called the Abraham Accord signed in 2020 with other regional powers such as Bahrain and Morocco.
