Nighttime Assaults in Kyiv as Ukraine Urges Swift Action from U.S.
Another night brought further strikes on Ukrainian cities as Russia continues its military campaign, seemingly unaffected by warnings of economic consequences for its actions in Ukraine.
At least six people, including a six-year-old child, were killed, and 50 others injured in overnight assaults on Kyiv and other regions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the attacks as “deliberate violence” and called on international allies to pressure Moscow toward negotiations, stating, “All the necessary means to achieve this are available to our partners.”
“We rely on the commitments made by the U.S. and Europe to be followed through,” he added.
Andriy Yermak, Zelenskyy’s chief adviser, escalated the rhetoric, labeling Russia as “a state that spreads terror.”
“Putin is making it clear he has no intention of stopping. He continues targeting civilians—including children,” Yermak said.
“The response must be stronger penalties and military support. We trust the U.S. and its leadership will uphold the idea that security comes from decisive action.”
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha pressed for immediate measures, urging that delays in demanding a Russian ceasefire be eliminated.
“This is deliberate. Putin ignores efforts to halt the violence. His focus is destruction, fueled by a war he cannot win but refuses to end. Accountability is unavoidable,” Sybiha said.
“The moment has come to ensure Moscow faces the repercussions of its aggression. Unified sanctions and firm measures are imperative. Strength must pave the way for peace.”
