Barbora Krejčíková emulates Steffi Graf's determination for her Wimbledon aspirations victory.

At 12 years old, Barbora Krejcikova jotted down her future aspirations in a journal, envisioning herself as an accomplished professional tennis player and dreaming of accomplishments like reaching number one in the rankings, winning prestigious tournaments such as Wimbledon and Roland Garros, and representing Czech Republic at the Olympics.

"I'm quite certain that I penned my ambitions to become a top-10 tennis player," Krejcikova shared during an interview following her historic victory at Wimbledon. "In addition, achieving victories in Roland Garros and donning our national flag for the Olympics were goals inscribed in my youthful dreams."

Krejcikova's childhood aspirations soon transformed into reality as she achieved all three objectives before her Wimbledon triumph. She attained a top-10 ranking, clinched the French Open title in 2021 and secured a doubles gold medal with Katerina Siniakova at the Tokyo Olympics.

Winning Wimbledon was not part of Krejcikova's initial ambitions; it wasn't until she encountered Jana Novotna, her compatriot and former Wimbledon champion, that this prestigious achievement entered her thoughts. "The stories I heard from Jana about the challenges and emotional triumph at Wimbledon ignited a newfound perspective on the tournament," Krejcikova remarked.

It was four years later when Krejcikova sought advice from Novotna, leading to an enduring coaching relationship that lasted until Novotna's passing in 2017 due to illness. Under Novotna's guidance, Krejcikova has amassed an impressive record of twelve grand slam singles titles, including two victories at Wimbledon.

Krejcikova had primarily been recognized for her doubles prowess until 2020 when she broke into the top 100 in singles rankings. "I experienced a successful doubles career but found it challenging to excel simultaneously," Krejcikova revealed. Despite an unpredictable start at Wimbledon, marked by injuries and illness, her resilience propelled her forward.

Krejcikova's journey culminated in securing the Wimbledon title, a feat she had not initially anticipated due to early-year setbacks. "It wasn't an easy path leading up to this triumph," Krejicikova admitted.

As she prepares for future competitions and proudly represents her country on the Olympic stage, Krejcikova continues to inspire with her remarkable journey from childhood aspirations to grand slam championships.
