Two French rugby players have been detained following accusations of sexual misconduct during a tour in South America. The individuals involved - Hugo Auradou, aged 20, and Oscar Jégou, aged 21 - are expected to be transferred from the Argentinian capital to Mendoza for further investigation into the incident.
The French Rugby Federation's president, Florian Grill, has stated that an ongoing inquiry is taking place, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations if confirmed. He expressed sympathy towards any potential victims and urged for a thorough examination of the facts without disclosing details at this time.
The French sports minister, Amelie Oudea-Castera, has acknowledged that should the investigation substantiate the claims, it would be an unspeakable act against society's values. In response to the situation, La Rochelle Rugby Club and Pau Rugby Club have both refrained from making any statements while awaiting further information from their respective authorities.
Simultaneously, France full-back Melvyn Jaminet has been suspended following a video surfacing online that contained offensive remarks. The French Rugby Federation has condemned these comments and taken immediate action by suspending the player involved.
