Justice Department Meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell Underway Today
A high-ranking Justice Department official is scheduled to meet with Ghislaine Maxwell today in Tallahassee, Florida, according to an ABC News report.
Maxwell, a close associate of Jeffrey Epstein, is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in Tallahassee for sex trafficking and other offenses.
On Tuesday, the Justice Department confirmed that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche would meet with Maxwell "in the coming days."
In a statement shared by Attorney General Pam Bondi, Blanche said, "The president has instructed us to review all credible evidence. If Ghislaine Maxwell possesses information regarding crimes against victims, the FBI and DOJ will evaluate her statements."
Maxwell’s legal team acknowledged ongoing discussions with the government about the meeting, stating, "Ghislaine will always provide truthful testimony."
Her brother, Ian Maxwell, told the New York Post yesterday that she is preparing "new evidence" ahead of the meeting. However, concerns about her credibility persist. Politico notes skepticism surrounding her reliability.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has also expressed doubts, questioning whether his own party should proceed with subpoenaing Maxwell. Referencing past Justice Department claims that she is a habitual liar, he asked, "Can we rely on her to tell the truth? Should we trust her statements?"
Since the DOJ announced the meeting, speculation has grown about her possible motives, particularly given the outgoing president’s authority to pardon or reduce her sentence.

The meeting between Ghislaine Maxwell and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche is now taking place at the U.S. Attorney’s office in downtown Tallahassee, according to ABC.
The outlet reported that Blanche arrived at the courthouse around 9 a.m., where Maxwell’s legal team was also seen entering.
David Markus, Maxwell’s appellate lawyer, told ABC, "We anticipate a productive discussion."
