"Jurassic World Rebirth exceeds box office expectations"

Jurassic World Rebirth has exceeded projections in its first week, with the newest entry in the dinosaur series earning over $318m globally after initial estimates suggested a $260m debut.

The movie premiered in North America during the Fourth of July holiday, launching in U.S. theaters on Wednesday, July 2—a move often used to strengthen opening-weekend numbers. Over five days (Wednesday to Sunday), it brought in more than $147m (£108m) in the U.S. and Canada, with an additional $171m (£126m) from other markets.

These figures are notably higher than the studio’s forecasts. Universal had anticipated approximately $100m-$120m in North America and slightly over double that overseas. Despite a fresh cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey, expectations were cautious, as Independence Day is not typically a major filmgoing holiday. Reviews have been varied, with CuriosityNews’s Peter Bradshaw awarding it four stars and praising its confident approach, calling it a “relaxed and sure-footed Spielberg-inspired adventure with thrilling and humorous moments.”

The film’s potential for success is also aided by its comparatively modest budget, reported at $180m—far less than the $845m spent on its predecessors, Fallen Kingdom and Dominion.
