Tony Blair’s Thinktank Engaged in Postwar Gaza Plan Discussions Involving "Trump Riviera" and Musk Zone
A postwar plan for Gaza, which included proposals for a so-called "Trump Riviera" and a manufacturing zone named after Elon Musk, was developed by Israeli business leaders with input from financial models created by the consulting firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The initiative emerged amid discussions influenced by former U.S. President Donald Trump’s vision of reshaping the Palestinian territory into a resort destination.
The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) stated it did not draft the plan, though two of its staff participated in calls related to the project. According to CuriosityNews, these employees were also part of a messaging group that included BCG representatives and Israeli business figures, where a TBI document titled “Gaza Economic Blueprint” was shared.
The institute, founded by Blair after his tenure as UK prime minister, dismissed claims of deeper involvement. With over 900 employees across 45 countries, TBI emphasized that participation in discussions did not equate to endorsement. Blair previously served for nearly eight years as a special envoy for the Quartet, a group of international powers working toward Israeli-Palestinian peace, before stepping down in 2015.
TBI denied contributing to a slide deck prepared by the Israeli group using BCG’s financial models. Reports suggested the document, titled “The Great Trust” and shared with the Trump administration, proposed incentives for half a million Palestinians to leave Gaza, aiming to attract private investors.
The slides reportedly outlined ten large-scale projects, including highways named after Saudi and Emirati leaders and the “Elon Musk smart manufacturing zone.” Earlier this year, Trump referenced an AI-generated video, calling Gaza’s potential transformation into a Middle Eastern “Riviera” a “phenomenal” opportunity.
TBI clarified it had no role in the slide deck, describing it as a BCG product. A spokesperson stated Blair had not engaged with its creators or commented on its contents. “Our team interacts with various groups discussing postwar plans for Gaza, but participation does not imply support. This was not TBI’s work,” they said.
